The book was named the Photographic Publication of the Year 2003 and was selected among the Most Beautiful Czech Books of 2002. Editorially, it is a continuation of František Drtikol's book "Diaries and Letters from 1914-1918 Dedicated to Eliška Janská", which is compiled from original and fully preserved texts. The intention was to publish another unique comprehensive text, which is also a kind of photographer's credo and a handbook for students of photography, and can certainly contribute to a deeper understanding of the artistic practices of photographer František Drtikol. Drtikol tried to pass on this lifelong experience in the form of photography courses he held in his studio in the 1930s. The book is divided into 29 chapters (The Art of Photography, Model, Portrait, A Little Psychology, Every Detail, Cast Shadow, Light, Simple Motive...). In addition to the text, each chapter is complemented by a photographic example of the author's work, which enhances the content of the respective text. The conclusion is a joint commentary by Anna Fárová and Stanislav Doležal.
A part of the edition is provided with a handmade sleeve with the Drtikol's atelier mark. Hardcover with dust jacket, 80 pages.
